Conscious Alliance

“Today, one in four children in the United States don’t have reliable access to food. As the need across our nation continues to increase, Conscious Alliance has had to scale-up our efforts to get food into the hands of kids and families who need it most.”
– Cathryn Folkestad

For 18 years, Conscious Alliance has brought healthy food into underserved communities. Their work empowers young people to get involved by mixing passion for music with opportunities to make a positive impact. What began as a grassroots food drive at a local concert has grown into a national movement, serving more than six million meals to date. This year, Operations Director Cathryn Folkestad stepped up to the Covid-19 crisis, coordinating the delivery of more than 2.5 million meals to remote areas with limited access, including Pine Ridge Indian Reservation and Navajo Nation.

“Stocking food pantries isn’t enough — the pandemic has been especially tough for families with children who rely on school for most of their meals. We address the problem by partnering with schools and community organizations serving food without barriers in the heart of neighborhoods.”
